Facility Reservations
The Gates Recreation and Parks Department owns and maintains 137 acres of parkland. Each park has recreation areas to serve various needs.
MEMORIAL PARK
Memorial Park is a 30-acre park located at 160 Spencerport Road. The park features 3 ball diamonds, 2 football/soccer fields, natural pond, playground, bocce court, and rest rooms. The enclosed shelter, with covered patio, is heated but does not have air conditioning, and has a small kitchen equipped with a stove, microwave, refrigerator and freezer. Seating capacity is approximately 125. ADA restroom facilities are located inside the building for shelter patrons. An open pavilion is available for rental. Click here to view park shelter photos.
LIONS PARK
Lions Park is a 14-acre park located at 100 Kentucky Avenue off of Long Pond Road. The park has an enclosed shelter with a covered patio, is heated but does not have air conditioning, and has a kitchen equipped with a stove, microwave, refrigerator and freezer. Seating capacity in the shelter is 95. The park features 3 lighted tennis courts, lighted basketball court, sand volleyball, ball field, soccer/football field. WEGMAN ROAD PARK
This 2-acre recreation area is located at 510 Wegman Road. The park features a 20' x 40' open pavilion, 2 play structures, a climbing wall, and a swing set. The park also has an accessible restroom. The park is open dawn to dusk.
WESTGATE PARK
Westgate Park is a 16.5-acre park located at 1489 Howard Road, next to the post office. This facility includes an enclosed shelter with a covered patio, is heated but does not have air conditioning, and has a kitchen equipped with a stove, refrigerator and freezer. Seating capacity is 125. The park features an open pavilion seating up to 90, grills, 2 lighted tennis courts, 4 basketball courts, 2 baseball fields, 2 children’s play structures, and a nature trail. FIRST RESPONDERS PARK
This 68-acre park has a 20' x 60' open pavilion, 4 soccer fields, restroom facilities, a 90-foot baseball field, 2 play structures, swing set, climbers, tire swing, accessible fishing pier and the 9 hole Woodlands disc golf course. The park is located at 4310 Lyell Road and is open dawn to dusk, April 1 - October 31.
HINCHEY HISTORICAL HOUSE & PARK
Built in the 1870’s, the historical Hinchey Homestead is the only structure in Gates listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is owned by the Town of Gates. The house and large barn sits on a 3.1 acre site located at 634 Hinchey Road. The Gates Historical Society is managing the house and can be contacted at 464-9740 for information on tours and programs.
Rental Information
Persons wishing to reserve the shelters at Lions, Memorial, Wegman Road or Westgate Parks or the athletic fields may do so no more than 1 year in advance by obtaining a permit at the Gates Recreation and Parks Office or by completing an online request. Your residency will be verified. Shelters are available to rent from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. daily.

Security Deposit: There will be a fee of $200 required before a park key is issued to any individual in addition to the rental fee. The Recreation and Parks Department reserves the right to hold all or any portion of this deposit if the shelter is left in poor condition. This deposit will be returned to you upon an inspection of the facility and once the key has been returned.
Park Shelter Reservation Refund/Change of Date Fee Policy: No refunds will be made unless notification of cancellation is given 14 calendar days in advance. The processing fee for all reservation refunds is $25. There is a $20 charge for changes of date or location. Any date change must also be received 14 calendar days in advance.
Ball Diamonds and Football/Soccer Fields:
Athletic fields can be reserved by residents or groups made up primarily of residents. Permits will be issued after Gates Youth Sports Organizations schedules are set. Field use must be compatible with other activities, programs, and picnics within the parks, and the Recreation & Parks Department reserves the right to decline requests that they feel detrimental to the turf or in conflict with other programs. Fields at times may be closed for scheduled maintenance. Field fees are based on 2 hours of use:
Baseball/Softball: $50/2 hours
Soccer/Football/Lacrosse: $50/2 hours
Facility Reservations
You may view our shelter and pavilion availability and request a facility reservation for your date and location on-line between 7 days and up to 1 year in advance. You may wish to print these instructions prior to checking facility availability and request a facility reservation, by selecting this link: Determine Facility Availability.
TO DETERMINE FACILITY AVAILABILITY
Select the “Facility Calendar" button above, which will bring up today on the FACILITY CALENDAR. This calendar displays all recreational activities and facility reservations for the day. The word “Reserved” indicates the facility listed is reserved for the day. Use the Calendar Filters, located at the top of the page to narrow your facility search. Set the filter for the facility or facilities you would like to reserve, by using thedrop- down menus, as follows:
· Set “Facility” to the park you wish to have your reservation. Leave the filter at “Facility” if you wish tocheck multiple parks.
· Set “Room” to “Enclosed Shelter” or “Open Pavilion” of the park, in which you wish to have yourreservation. Leave the filter at “Room” if you wish to check multiple shelters.
· Set “Facility Type” to “Park”
· Set “Room Type” to “Park Shelter” for an enclosed shelter or open pavilion. Contact the Recreation and Parks Office at 247-6100, ext. 235 to reserve an athletic field.
Select the “Search” button to the right of the filters to narrow your search.
You may change the calendar view by selecting the “Day”, “Week” or “Month” buttons. You may viewspecific dates by either selecting the arrow buttons on either side of the listed date or clicking on the “Jumpto” date, which will provide you a drop-down calendar, from which you may select the date(s) you areinterested.
Once you have determined a possible date and facility for your reservation, select the green “ReserveFacility” button, which will reopen the “Facilities” web-page. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
You must have an ACCOUNT on file to request a facility on-line. Click here to set up a New Account orselect the "Sign In" button at the top of the page if you already have an account.
Select the “+” of the park you are interested in reserving and a drop-down menu will appear directly below the park name. Select the “info” button to pull up general information on the park. Select the calendar icon to view availability of the selected facility on the selected date. Select the blue “Reserve” button to open the “Enter Reservation Details” page to begin the reservation request process for the park.
Select the “Primary Contact:” and “Event Type:” from the drop-down menus, enter an “Event Title:” for the reservation, the approximate number of people you expect in the “# of People Attending this Event:”and any “Additional Notes that apply to your request:”. Please take note that if your reservation request is granted, the “Event Title:” on the “Facility Calendar” will read “Reserved”, and your party is responsible for setting up and taking down your own tables and chairs (please do not request this in the“Request Note:”). Select the “Next” button, which will bring up the “Enter Rental Dates / Times” page.
Select the “Rental Date:” from the drop down calendar and enter (from the drop down menus) the “StartTime:” you wish to get into the shelter (earliest time is 9:00 AM) and “End Time:” you plan on being out of the shelter. The latest time listed on the drop down menu is 9:30 PM, but you are allowed to have the facility until 9:45 PM. Please take into consideration your set up and clean up times when indicating your “StartTime:” and “End Time:”. Select the blue “Add Rental Date(s)” button, which will bring up a drop down menu at the bottom of the page with the reservation request details.
Select the “Edit” button if you would like to edit the “Start Time” or “End Time”. Select the “Next” button when the information is correct, which will bring up the “Accept Terms and Conditions” page.
Read the Terms and Conditions of the reservation, check where indicated at “I agree to ALL terms and conditions for this reservation.”, and enter your full name where indicated. Select the “I Agree” button, which will bring up the “
Review & Submit” page.
Review the information presented. Select the “Previous” button to make any necessary corrections to yourrequest. Select the “Submit Request” button if all the information is correct, which will submit the request to the Gates Recreation and Parks Office and will bring up a pop-up window stating the request has beensubmitted. Select “Ok”, which will bring up your “Customer Family Profile” page, and you will receive aconfirmation e-mail. You will need to “Sign out” from your account.
To finalize your reservation, you will receive a second e-mail indicating if your reservation request has been approved or rejected. If approved, you will be sent the permit form to be completed and returned to the Recreation & Parks Office via e-mail. Payment must be made within 5 business days. Proof of residency must also be provided if this is your first rental.
